Scrapbook layout – Chole on the beach

Hi all!

I’ve got a new scrapbook page today that I created for the ABC challenge on For the Love of Pretty Paper. This week the letter is V, and V is for vellum!

I had a look through my stash, as I was sure that I had some clear vellum (well, “clear” is not really the right word.. it’s a tiny bit opaque, but you know what I mean), but I couldn’t find it. So I went for the last piece of the super gorgeous printed vellum by Cocoa Vanilla Studio. I took inspiration from this layout by Crafty Jen Schow that I found on Pinterest.

And here it is!

In case you are wondering, no.. Chole is not a spelling mistake.. there is a story behind the name, and I have a layout planned to tell that story soon!

I hope you liked this and thanks for looking!

Stick it Down August winner!

Hi all!

Exciting news today… I won the August challenge over at Stick it Down!! YAY! It was with my Let’s wander layout 🙂

This means I will be guest designing for them in October… And I’ll tell you something: I’ve already seen the sketch that I will have to work with and it’s awesome!! I’m so over the moon!

In the meantime, I also want to have a go at their card sketch for September. I have an idea in mind, but I just need the time to make it!

Scrapbook layout – Wonky plait

Hi friends!

Today I bring you a layout that I created last week  for a quick game of “scraplifting” on the Mind The Scrap facebook page.

So I went through all the previous layouts that had been posted and I was really drawn to a mixed media layout by Emma Clark (who is the co-owner of Mind the Scrap). I loved how clearly defined her ink sprays were (mine mixed a bit) and how bright and colourful it was.

I sprayed directly into my textured cardstock. I didn’t bother with gesso (I hate the thing) even knowing that I was going to be applying texture paste. There is a tiny bit of warping, but it is not really noticeable, and you won’t see it when it’s on the page protector anyway. (Plus, gesso wouldn’t stop the warping anyway, it would just make the base harder)

So here is my scraplift!

Scrapping 4 Fun Design Team – Enjoy Today

Hi all!

Excited news today! I have made it into the Design Team for Scrapping 4 Fun challenges! It is a very varied group of talented ladies, with all kinds of techniques and styles, so I am so excited to bring a bit of “mariastyle” to the table!

The first challenge that I am participating on is #98 and it’s all about techniques. The technique that I am using on this layout is Stamping directly on the page.

I got out all my stamps (I don’t have that many, trust me!) and my versafine ink (my favourite!) and got stamping! I left like a semicircle of white space for my photo, but other than that I pretty much filled up all of the space! I am so pleased with how it turned out! This technique works better with photopolymer stamps and a clear block, because then you can clearly see where you are going to be stamping. I don’t think this technique would work well with wood-mount stamps.
