I don’t have anything new to show you today, and since it is Thursday, I thought I would do a #tbt and showcase a layout from my 8×8 days. I have only been scrapbooking on12x12 size since the beginning of this year but it already feels like a million years ago!
This layout is super fun and I have chosen it because (I had never posted it here before…) it shows quite well how you can make the most of 8×8 pages. It’s got two photos, tons of alphas for the long title and a journalling card! You can’t ask for more 🙂
Here it is and I hope you like it!
Read you very soon,
Hello! For today’s Throw Back Thursday I bring you a layout that I made last month. I have only recently finished doing the stitching though! This is my first double layout on 12×12 ever! And I am so happy with how it’s turned out!
I am still using up the remaining bits and pieces from the Take Me Away kit that I got at the Paige Evans workshop. I remember thinking that the price of the workshop was quite high, but I’ve had so many bits leftover that it’s been totally worth it!
This double layout is for my Book of Me scrapbook and it is all about the places where I have lived and that I have got to call “home”. The paper with the map of Europe was just perfect and the moment I saw it I knew exactly what I wanted to do. The paper with the houses was also perfect to fill up the background on the other page. I added a tiny bit of watercolour underneath the photos, but only a tiny bit to give it a bit of interest but without taking focus off the images.
I hope you have liked this layout and read you soon!
Approximately in September last year a Spanish friend of mine contacted me, saying that one of her friends was looking for someone to make decorations for the Sweets Table at her daughters’ first communion.
And because it was a good friend asking, I said yes, despite the fact that I had stopped taking commissions for personalised orders a few months back.
The order was quite big although not too complicated. It consisted of a couple of large name buntings and lots of cupcake/cake toppers with different wording. In addition to that, I also threw in another cake topper that reads “nuestra primera comunión” – our first communion.
And here are the photos!
The order was delivered at the beginning of the month, and my friend’s friend is very please with it 🙂
Once upon a time I tried to build a crafty business. I knew handmade cards were not really the way forward for several reasons (already a saturated market, especially with all the stampin up people out there, and also my style was not really ideal for making “cheap” cards to sell to the mass market). So instead I thought for a long time and came up with Personalised Bunting as my star product. And for a while it was kind of successful, I made quite a few buntings in a year! But sadly the “business” just died away. I stopped advertising, offering all kinds of discounts and offers, doing any giveaways, and it just died. It was way too much work for the few benefits I was getting.
However, just the other day I got an enquiry from a lady who had bought a bunting from me a couple of years ago. She has just had another baby and wanted another one! Repeat business! Yay! It made me feel really warm inside, I tell you. There isn’t a better feeling than seeing your craft being appreciated by other people!
Here are some examples of buntings made during the time I had my tiny, short-lived business:
Hello! Apologies for the lack of posts lately. The truth is that I haven’t done much crafting at all since the crop in Reading last month! Life has kept me busy and the loft conversion has kept me out of my craft room!
I’m attending an Artful Angels crop this coming Saturday and a full weekend retreat in Bracknell the following weekend, so I will hopefully be catching up with lots of layouts on the twins scrapbook!
Today, however, I bring you a Throw Back Thursday from last year’s Halloween’s season. Halloween is nearly upon us, with lots of costumes and pumpkins everywhere, so I thought it was adequate to show you these two creations.
This first one is a bunting that I made with my silhouette that we hung outside our front door for the trick-or-treaters. I was very proud of it and kept it to use again this year 🙂
The second one is a little addition that I made for the treat-or-treat bags. At this point last year I was still trying to promote my “business” so I thought these would be a great marketing idea (however I can already tell you that they didn’t work one bit – I won’t bother to make these again this year, as they took me quite a while to make! I made approximately 50 of them. The “shop” website address was stamped at the back of the card)
