This layout has been created to participate in the February Challenge over at the Stick It Down blog. This is the first time that I am participating, so I have no idea whether I am doing it properly 😀
This is the sketch for the challenge:
And this is my take on it!
All the circles are from the Studio Calico “Atlantic” collection. It is an old one, and I have been forcing myself to use my old stash… as a way to justify all my newer purchases! There are also a few Shimelle wood buttons from her Go Now Go collection and some enamel dots from my stash.
The title is done with the pink paislee C’est La Vie alphas, which I love how big they are! My title is not that long, but the alphas fill almost the whole length of the page!
One more close up:
I hope you have liked this layout and thanks for visiting!
On Sunday last week I managed to get a little break from the chaos in my house and sat down to create a layout. I originally wanted to follow a sketch that I found on the UK Scrappers forum, however, after looking at it for ages I decided to go with my own flow and see what happened!
So as you can see, I started following the sketch by adding some washi tape however that’s where all resemblance with the sketch ends! I am happy that I followed my flow as I am very happy with the finished product.
The surrounding background paper is from Simple Stories “Whatever” collection. The washi tapes are from Ikea! (yes! Ikea do washi tape too!) and the rest of the embellishments are from Fancy Pants “Life is Beautiful” Collection.
I hope you like it and read you soon!
My second layout of 2017 started like a right old mess! Again, I was inspired by a sketch for the January Challenge in the Facebook Scrapbooking group.
I knew I wanted to play with watercolour splatters and I knew which photo I wanted to scrap, so the splatters needed to match the colours in the photo a bit. In order to create the circle in the middle of the page I used a plate (the watercolour washed off instantly, so no worries there)
This time I was not so literal with the sketch, I only used some of the elements as inspiration, but in the end I was very happy with the final result and I was still able to enter it in the challenge.
Here is the final layout:
Unfortunately my cat walked over the background whilst the watercolour was still drying, so there are a couple of smudges.
And a few close ups:
If you look closely at the second close up, you will notice the gesso that I used to prep the background sheet. Unfortunately when I bought my gesso I went for white and I should have gone for clear instead! But it’s not bothering me too much at the moment. Next time I’ll just make sure that I cover the whole page so you can’t see the difference in shades.
The layout ingredients are:
- The butterflies are Studio Calico wood veneers.
- The pattern papers were a mixture used from my scrap pile. There’s stampin’ up, First edition paper (Paradise crush), and another one that I can’t remember where it came from!
- Just two little embellisments, the “live out loud” sticker, which is from Kaisercraft and the “smile everyday” sticker which is from Simple Stories.
- Others: Dovecraft enamel effects, watercolour paints.
This is my first layout of 2017 and on 12×12! I created it to participate on the January challenge on the For the love of pretty paper page on Facebook. It is based on this sketch:
I am not very used to using sketches for my layouts, so I am aware that I may have been a bit too literal on my interpretation, however I am so happy with how it turned out!
Here it is:
Isn’t it gorgeous? I love love love it!
