Scrapbooking layout – Lovely

Good morning everyone!

Last night I had “itchy crafty fingers” and started a layout about my daughter. I got an amazing sheet of Pinkfresh Studio vellum with my February Lottie Loves Paper kit and I had been contemplating it for a long time not being sure what to do with it! This is the first time that I have used vellum on a layout, so it really took me a long time to figure it out!

The gold printed shapes in the vellum are gorgeous and I thought that maybe a pop of colour here and there would be nice. So I started with a tiny bit of gold Heidi Shine on a small brush and coloured several objects randomly. I loved the effect! So I decided to add a tiny bit more colour by introducing teal, citron and white too. In hindsight, I think I would have preferred it to be just gold and teal, as the green is a bit brighter than expected. But at the same time, my photo has got a lovely green background, so the citron colour is not out of place. I wasn’t sure how to stick the vellum to my cardstock without showing, so I added some glue under the photo and stapled the top and bottom edges with my tiny attacher. This way the vellum is still lifting at the corners, giving it lots of dimension.

The cutout flowers are from an old Basic Grey collection called J’Adore, which the lovely Natalie from the facebook group very kindly gave me. I saw she had used those flowers on a layout and I absolutely love them and she was a star and sent me the remaining bits of that paper that she had. The title is done with the chipboard thickers from Crate Paper “Celebrate” collection. And there are also a couple of white enamel dots here and there, but I have left the embellishment quite light as I wanted the flowers and the vellum the be the focal point.

And here it is! I really hope you like it!

Scrapbooking layout – You are my sunshine

Hello everyone!

Today I bring you a layout that I have created for the March challenge over at For the Love of Pretty Paper. The challenge was to use acetate in a creative way so I decided to use mine as part of the background!

I bought this piece of acetate and the cat papers at the Hey Little Magpie pop-up shop at the Birds of a Feather workshop last weekend and I knew exactly what I wanted to do the moment I saw them! The layout is inspired on a Manxy Cat Crafts (Sarah Costain) layout, and I can tell you already that I will not be doing that ruffled ribbon technique any time soon! That was hard!

The cat papers are from My Mind’s Eye “Meow” collection and the acetate is from Teresa Collins Signature Essentials. The ribbon I went to Hobbycraft especially for. I have several types of pink ribbon at home but neither were wide enough, but Hobbycraft had just what I needed. The right width and also with grey polka dots! Perfect! The flair came with a Lottie Loves Paper kit a few months ago, and I can’t right remember which collection it is from… I am thinking Cocoa Vanilla Studios, but not 100% sure. There are some “fake sequins”, which are Pinkfresh Studio “Felicity” and a few black enamel dots. The “sunshine” in the title is from Maggie Holmes and the alphas are from Simple Stories.

Very simple layout as you can see, but I love how effective it is! And also, as you could have probably imagined by now, quite difficult to photograph since the background is transparent!

Lottie Loves Paper Guest Designer Layout – Love you

Hello lovely scrappers!

Today I bring you layout #3 for Lottie Loves Paper.

Have I mentioned before how amazing this kit is? Well, in case you haven’t heard me say it before… it is! The lovely Sarah is also opening subscriber spaces from April onwards, so if you are thinking of subscribing, now is the moment! Go to the website and look for Monthly Kits.

So, my layout today is inspired on one of the layouts that I did at the Paige Evans workshop. For her class I chose the star die cut, however there was an option of a heart in the same style. When I sat down to create this layout, I wanted to have hearts and this cut file from the Silhouette store was just what I wanted.

I used the papers from the kit for backing my hearts. They are a mixture of Dear Lizzy Lovely Day and Pink Paislee Oh my Heart. The embellishments, both normal stickers and chipboard, are also from Dear Lizzy Lovely Day. There are also a few enamel dots that came with the kit. I want to say they are from Pinkfresh Studio, but I am not 100%. The black cardstock background also came with the kit, however I decided to spray a bit with white Heidi Swapp Color Shine from my stash. I think it breaks the “blackness” a bit and makes the background blend a bit softer with the heart die cut.

And here it is!

Loveyou

Second Paige Taylor Evans and BOAF workshop

Hello lovely crafters!

On Saturday I attended my second workshop with the ladies of Birds of a Feather and the super talented Paige Evans. She is due to go back to America in June, so I have a feeling this was the last chance we got to work with her up close and personal!

She came up with four gorgeous layouts, designed with her newest collection with Pink Paislee “Oh my heart”. And once again, I am so happy with all four of them!

This time I was a bit disorganised and I didn’t prepare the photos with the dimensions that we were advised to take. I had been so busy with UKSA, Lottie Loves Paper and Silhouette, that I just didn’t have the time! So what I did was take all the photos that I had already printed ready to scrapbook. As it turns out, with some strategic cropping, I was able to find everything that I needed and they suited the layouts too!

The workshop was at a different venue this time, and I must admit that the room was not as big as the one in Coventry and I felt a bit pushed for space. I had no room whatsoever to put my things, and I had packed very lightly! The lunch wasn’t as good either. Don’t take me wrong, what I had was perfectly fine, but there weren’t hardly any options to choose from and nowhere to sit! We had been told that it was going to be a finger buffet, but then they served foods that needed to be eaten with a fork and a knife… hardly finger food!

This time we were sitting in tables of two (versus long tables the previous time) and I sat with Christina, whom I already know from FTLOPP and the Artful Angels crop. She was a delight to be with, and we really got on very well! We had a photo taken together, but it is in her camera, so I need to wait for her to send it to me!

I also met so many familiar faces from the Internet world. As it turns out, the amazing Beata Valint was there too and I didn’t even realise! I met Nikki, who is in the Silhouette team with me, and Emma who is in the UK Scrap Addicts team too!

And without any further ado, here are my layouts!
