Cardmaking – Happy birthday (for The Social Papercrafter)

Hello all again!

My second project for The Social Papercrafter Magazine is a card based on a sketch. I very usually follow sketches for scrapbook layouts but I don’t do so for cards that often. I have in the past, but it’s not something I tend to do.

However, when I saw the sketch for the card in this edition of the magazine, I knew I wanted to give it a go. Especially, because the sketch is quite simple, which for me is much more helpful than when the sketch is quite complex with lots of detail, because then you tend to overthink things. With simple sketches, it’s easier to come up with a quick idea in your head and then extend that original idea.

And here are the sketch and my card:

Birthday cards

Hello!

Today I bring you two birthday cards! A long time ago I was an avid cardmaker, but when I discovered scrapbooking, cards took a hit and got a tad forgotten. I still make cards for very special people, however not as often as I used to. However, my kids have been invited to lots of birthday parties next month, so I thought that with a bit of planning I could make a few of them.

For these two cards, I have followed a sketch from Stick it Down blog. In the past I have taken inspiration from other cards on Pinterest or in the Stampin Up catalogue, but I don’t think I ever followed a sketch before! So definitely this was a first!

These are today’s cards and the sketch they were based on:
