Scrapbook Layout – The beginning of our adventure

Hello all!

Yesterday I attended my second crop of the month (gasp!) and it was with the lovely Artful Angels ladies. This is one of the layouts that I made at the crop, and it is a scraplift from the lovely Sarah, who attends the crop and who is also the owner of Lottie Loves Paper, where I get my monthly embellishment kit from.

This is her layout which I scraplifted:

And this is my take on it!

The background stripey paper is from Kaisercraft “Back to basics” collection, and the butterflies are cut from my 6×6 Crate Paper “Chasing Dreams” paper pad. The “adventure” copper thicker is from Shimelle’s “Go Now Go” collection, and the other alphas are Basic Grey from my stash (similar to these ones)

I added some watercolour to the white cardstock using the packaging technique, and I also matted my photo in some pink and gold paper from my stash (do not know the manufacturer).

This is the very first photo that I have scrapbooked about my wedding, and I have really surprised myself using pinks, as the main colour scheme of my wedding was turquoise/teal and black… Maybe I will scrap another photo in those colours another time 🙂

Scrapbooking Layout – Beautiful

As I get ready to attend another crop next weekend (Scrap Cafe in Bracknell), here I am sharing another layout that I made at the Artful Angels crop last month.

I added the stitching at home only recently, as I thought that it needed something else and it was looking a bit bare in the edges. And so glad I did! It really works very well.

I just used my watercolours directly into the cardstock, I didn’t prime it with gesso first. But it is a 300gsm cardstock, so very thick, and I knew that the watercolour would be fine on it.

I then borrowed a few tiny punches from the crop table and went through my stash looking for papers that would match the watercolours. The papers used under the photo and for the photo corners are from the gorgeous Sunshine and Happiness collection by Simple Stories. It is such a bright and colourful collection, I love it!

So, as you can see, a very simple layout, but I just love the simplicity of it and how the photo is still the focal point. I hope you like it!

Scrapbooking Layout – Curious Eric

Today I bring you another layout that I made at the Artful Angels crop last weekend. Funnily enough, I also chose a non-white background for this layout. I think the earthy tones in the photo made me choose this kraft cardstock.

Here is the layout:

My inspiration for this layout was this layout I had pinned. I knew I wanted to use triangles and I had the right papers with the colours I wanted, however, I wanted my  triangles to be slightly bigger so as to not use as many papers. The papers came from my stash and unfortunately I don’t know the name of the collection! It must be an old one…

Before gluing the papers to the background, I did a generous spray of white Heidi Swapp Colour Shine. It is very delicate and not too obvious, however it does give a beautiful shimmer to the whole layout. Here’s a close up:

So, overall, very very very happy with this layout. I love the tones and the photos are just so cute!

Another mixed media project

Hello all! This post is being written from the lovely Ratley, the village where my in laws live, as we’ve come to spend a few days.

Today I wanted to talk about a new mixed media project that I have started. I took inspiration from these two layouts, and somehow I want to combine them both into one:

lets-do-this-again1  collectbeautifulmoments

Basically I want to take the design on the right (popped up smaller square in the middle of a 12×12, with elements underneath) but use watercolour as well as cut out elements underneath the the popped up square.

This project is going to be unique as well because I am going to scrapbook about ME! I made a page with a photo of me for National Scrapbooking Week back in May, and I have a page with Jon and me from back in the day, pre-kids. But other than those two, there aren’t any photos/layouts of just ME!

As I didn’t have any watercolours, I had to pop into hobbycraft and buy a set, as you have to 🙂 I am quite pleased with it, as it has got plenty of shades.

So, so far, I have cut lots of small flowers to use as the elements popping out of underneath the central square. I cut tons, but I am not sure I am going to use them all. I may end up only using a third of them! I will have to play and see what quantity looks better:

Flower elements

To the left of the photos are the watercolours that I originally chose to go with the flowers. The photo of me that I am going to use on the layout is in black and white so I am happy that these colours are not going to clash with the photo.

And here is the watercolour applied to the cardstock (previously primed with with gesso):

At the beginning I wasn’t sure about it… I thought the watercolour had gone a bit too over the place, however the more I look at it, the more I like it, so I am sure it will be fine in the end.

And this is all I have got for now! I still have to print the photo and I want to either type or print the journalling, which most probably will be hidden behind the photo in a tag of some sort.

I can’t wait to get it finished! It’s been in this half-done state for far too long 🙂
