Throw Back Thursday – First Communion Order

Approximately in September last year a Spanish friend of mine contacted me, saying that one of her friends was looking for someone to make decorations for the Sweets Table at her daughters’ first communion.

And because it was a good friend asking, I said yes, despite the fact that I had stopped taking commissions for personalised orders a few months back.

The order was quite big although not too complicated. It consisted of a couple of large name buntings and lots of cupcake/cake toppers with different wording. In addition to that, I also threw in another cake topper that reads “nuestra primera comunión” – our first communion.

And here are the photos!

The order was delivered at the beginning of the month, and my friend’s friend is very please with it 🙂

Scrapbooking Layout – Curious Eric

Today I bring you another layout that I made at the Artful Angels crop last weekend. Funnily enough, I also chose a non-white background for this layout. I think the earthy tones in the photo made me choose this kraft cardstock.

Here is the layout:

Curious Eric

My inspiration for this layout was this layout I had pinned. I knew I wanted to use triangles and I had the right papers with the colours I wanted, however, I wanted my  triangles to be slightly bigger so as to not use as many papers. The papers came from my stash and unfortunately I don’t know the name of the collection! It must be an old one…

Before gluing the papers to the background, I did a generous spray of white Heidi Swapp Colour Shine. It is very delicate and not too obvious, however it does give a beautiful shimmer to the whole layout. Here’s a close up:

So, overall, very very very happy with this layout. I love the tones and the photos are just so cute!

Scrapbooking Layout – Happy

Hi all! I attended my first scrapbooking crop of the year last weekend in Hursley. I was sat at a different table than usual, and as I didn’t really know the ladies, I didn’t join in the conversation much, so I just got on with my scrapbooking! I managed to finish 5 layouts, which is great going!

The next few blog posts will feature said layouts, and here is the first!

Happy Happy Happy

I cannot tell you how happy I am with this. This is probably my favourite layout so far ever. It is colourful, bright, and the photo of my son is just so cute! I know the grey background may seem a little odd to start with, but it has got a shine to it and it is not as dark as it may seem. Plus the grey coordinates greatly with the black and white photo!

This layout I made almost exclusively with the Lottie Loves Paper December kit plus Shimelle’s Starshine 6×6 paper pad. The only things that came from my stash were the “happy stamps” and the background cardstock.

Here are a few close ups:

By the way, there is some journalling… it’s just at the back of the cardstock! I didn’t want to “spoil” the look of the layout by adding my dodgy handwriting in the front 🙂

Scrapbooking layout – Smiles

Hello!

My second layout of 2017 started like a right old mess! Again, I was inspired by a sketch for the January Challenge in the Facebook Scrapbooking group.

I knew I wanted to play with watercolour splatters and I knew which photo I wanted to scrap, so the splatters needed to match the colours in the photo a bit. In order to create the circle in the middle of the page I used a plate (the watercolour washed off instantly, so no worries there)

This time I was not so literal with the sketch, I only used some of the elements as inspiration, but in the end I was very happy with the final result and I was still able to enter it in the challenge.

Here is the final layout:

Unfortunately my cat walked over the background whilst the watercolour was still drying, so there are a couple of smudges.

And a few close ups:

If you look closely at the second close up, you will notice the gesso that I used to prep the background sheet. Unfortunately when I bought my gesso I went for white and I should have gone for clear instead! But it’s not bothering me too much at the moment. Next time I’ll just make sure that I cover the whole page so you can’t see the difference in shades.

The layout ingredients are:

  • The butterflies are Studio Calico wood veneers.
  • The pattern papers were a mixture used from my scrap pile. There’s stampin’ up, First edition paper (Paradise crush), and another one that I can’t remember where it came from!
  • Just two little embellisments, the “live out loud” sticker, which is from Kaisercraft and the “smile everyday” sticker which is from Simple Stories.
  • Others: Dovecraft enamel effects, watercolour paints.

Scrapbooking Layout – More than twins

This is my first layout of 2017 and on 12×12! I created it to participate on the January challenge on the For the love of pretty paper page on Facebook. It is based on this sketch:

I am not very used to using sketches for my layouts, so I am aware that I may have been a bit too literal on my interpretation, however I am so happy with how it turned out!

Here it is:

Isn’t it gorgeous? I love love love it!
