Hello lovely likers!
On Saturday I was at the Scrap Cafe crop in Bracknell and had a super great time. I sat with Roxy and Claire (both of them are in the UK Scrap Addicts team) and also with Georgia and Amy, who were newbies.. this was their first time crop ever!
Unfortunately I wasn’t productive as I normally am, only finishing three layouts! I blame all the chatting and giggling… 🙂
The layout that I am bringing you today was the second layout that I created. I will show you the first one later on this week! And the third one that I created I can’t show you until next month, as I used a sketch that will only be reveal in May, in celebration of National Scrapbooking
Week, I mean, Day (06/05/17).
This layout was created for the April challenge over at For the Love of Pretty Paper. We have been given four different colour combinations to choose from and had to base our layout on these colours. The combination that I chose was “Bright and Cheery”. And this is my layout!
Here are the colour combinations for the challenge:
And a couple more of close ups.
I really enjoyed creating this layout, as it was very simple, clean and straight forward. No faffing around looking for pattern papers! I ended up doing hand-stitching over the vellum paper, however, I got my sewing machine out as Roxy said that she could set it up for me! Unfortunately, we struggled to get it going, and I have ended throwing the machine away. It has only given me problems since day one! Maybe I may try again in the future, if I have £50 laying around which I fancy spending on a new sewing machine…
Anyway, I hope you have enjoyed this layout and read you soon!
Hello lovely likers!
I am back again with another Scrapbooking Process video on youtube!! Whaaaat!!!
I must say, this is my third video and I am loving making them. I wish I had more hours in the day to make more videos! I am in real awe of all those scrappers out there who make videos almost every day AND have a job and run their families/homes. I wonder where they get the time from! At the moment I need to film my videos during the day, as I don’t have special lighting for my desk and rely on the daylight. However, I may ask for some lightboxes or similar for the next big event that requires presents (hang on, my birthday and Mother’s Day have just gone… will that be Christmas then? Heck, I can’t wait that long!)
So today’s layout is inspired by a challenge that Paige Taylor Evans set up on the Hey Little Magpie inspiration page on Facebook. The challenge is to use scraps or strips of leftover paper. And I have lots of scraps! So this challenge is ideal for me 🙂
Here is a photo of my finished layout:
And a couple of close ups:
And here is the youtube video! As I said the previous time, I am still learning and I appreciate any constructive criticism, whether it’s positive or negative, as long as it’s constructive I will take it into account! On my previous video a few people said that they preferred videos with voiceovers, and/or they found the music irritating. Unfortunately I don’t think I am ready to do voiceovers. I am so self concious of my voice/accent, and not being a chatty person, I found quite hard finding things to say… Anyway, I may give it a go in the future… not saying “never”, just “not for now”.
I hope you have enjoyed this layout.
Read you very soon!
Hello fellow scrapbookers!
I’m back with you today with my first scrapbooking process video on youtube! Eeekkkkk! (Actually, this is my second youtube video, but the first one to be published. My first process video I made the other day for UK Scrap Addicts, but it not due to be published until next week. Stay tuned for that!)
For this layout I have used my new Lottie Loves Paper kit which arrived just this morning. It is composed mainly by Cocoa Vanilla Studio “Wild at Heart” collection, which is absolutely gorgeous!!
Here is a photo of the layout:
And here is the video:
Any constructive feedback is more than welcome. I am not sure how often I will be making videos, but definitely a two or three a month I can squeeze!
Thanks for stopping by,
Hello all and welcome once more to my blog!
A few days ago, the very talented Shimelle posted a layout about her first job. I loved reading her story and it totally inspired me to create a layout about my first job too.
The story behind my first job is very long, as it wasn’t just a job, it was the family business. So I go on for quite a bit with the journalling on this layout! I had to even write at the back and even then I don’t think I told all the story! I have a feeling I may have to find another photo and create another layout to compliment this one.
For this page I used mainly papers and embellishments from My Mind’s Eye “Palm Beach” collection. I bought these with the idea of scrapbooking a few photos of my honeymoon in Hawaii, however the palm trees and colours suited perfectly with the theme of this layout so I didn’t hesitate to use them. I can always buy more if I find I need them for my honeymoon layouts.
As you would have imagined, this layout will be going to the Book of Me, which is coming along quite nicely! Just the other day I was going through all my childhood photos and I have so many to scrap! 🙂
A couple more closeups. Those gold palm trees are so gorgeous! I love them!!
I hope you have enjoyed this layout and thanks for visiting!
I read a blog post recently about the importance of branding and getting your brand out there and being recognised. The post said something like, if you saw a starbucks cup without its logo you would still recognise it as a starbucks cup. The same goes for crafters and scrapbookers. I may see a Missy Whidden layout and instantly recognise it as hers.
So today I have been thinking about rebranding. My old logo, which I desiged and created about four years ago, doesn’t feel like it represents me any more. It used to be great when I was cardmaking, as I turned the logo onto a stamp, and used to stamp it at the back of every card and projects like bunting. I hardly do those things these days, so I feel like my logo needs to be brought back into what I do now.
So I found some super gorgeous watercolour flowers online and I’ve been playing a bit with them. I love the pastel tones, so much softer than my previous stark black and white. And this is what I have come up with so far. This is still work in progress, bur certainly going towards the direction I want to go.
I’ve got a feeling that I may have to make the text bigger as it is not so visible when it is small, but I absolutely love this font and I want to stick with it. And I don’t want to separate my name! “marialachica”, all together, has been my brand name for a long time, so I don’t want to change that either… Tough!!
Anyway, more layouts coming your way soon. Stay tuned!
